Su Casa Opens Norwalk Outreach Center
Su Casa – Ending Domestic Violence has opened an outreach and resource center in the Norwalk Social Services Center two evenings per month. The programs will be offered on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday evening from 6:30pm – 7:30pm at the Social Services Center, located at 11929 Alondra Blvd in Norwalk.
On the 1st Tuesday of the month, Su Casa’s counselors will conduct Domestic Violence 101, a domestic violence awareness class. Each week a different topic will be discussed. Topics include: What is Domestic Violence?, What is Gaslighting?, How Abusers Trick Survivors into Denying Abuse, as well as other subjects relating to domestic violence. Counselors will be on hand to address individual concerns and provide direction and resources to assist with personal concerns.
On the 3rd Tuesday of the month, Su Casa’s will conduct housing stability workshops. The purpose of these workshops is to address the link between domestic violence and housing instability. These workshops will define housing stability versus instability and the potential barriers that survivors face when fleeing domestic violence and/or securing housing. Each workshop will target a specific life management skill that will assist the survivor as they move forward to create future stability for themselves and their families. Topics of the workshops will include: Grounding, Stress Management and Resiliency, Time Management, How to Stay Motivated and Keep Moving Forward, Life Navigation Skills, and Financial Wellness.
Counseling, case management, and resource services will be offered at the end of each class.
All the sessions are open to the public and childcare for children age 4 and older will be provided at no charge.
